“Women Police Are Underutilised” – Deputy Superintendent of Police, Celestina Kalu

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Celestina Kalu is the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command. In an interview with Ebenezer Adurokiya of Tribune she talks about her work  in a male-dominated field. Here is an excerpt;
As a policewoman, how do you cope with your male counterparts?
I’m not regretting being a woman because it is not by my choice that I am a woman. I look at myself as my male counterpart because the female police officers were not given a special training, we were all given the same training.
But we learnt that a police woman does not go out chasing criminals?
I believe that the women police are underutilised, they do their best, they even do better than men when called upon. You know we have a law, it has not been reviewed; but as soon as it is reviewed, I think the women would be given better opportunities like the men.
